U okviru saradnje Alfa BK Univerziteta i Savremene gimnazije, održano je još jedno predavanje, ovoga puta posvećeno uticaju engleskog jezika u medijima.

Učenici koji su prisustvovali predavanju pod nazivom „Engleski jezik u medijima“ imali su priliku da od profesorke Fakulteta za strane jezike, prof. dr Meline Nikolić, saznaju na koji način mediji utiču na proces učenja stranog jezika. Kroz razgovor sa prof. dr Melinom Nikolić i prof. dr Valentinom Budinčić, učenici Savremene gimnazije su imali priliku da se upoznaju sa dosadašnjim istraživanjima koja su pokazala da engleski jezik dominira u srpskim medijima i da su srednjoškolci u velikoj meri izloženi engleskom jeziku putem medija (prosečna izloženost je preko 5 sati dnevno).

Kako mediji pružaju mogućnost primene engleskog jezika, učenicima je potrebna fokusirana, intenzivna nastava jezika ne samo jezičke, već i digitalne pismenosti. Iz ovih razloga se i profesori sa Fakulteta za strane jezike trude da učenike i studente upute na elektronske rečnike, aplikacije za prevođenje, sadržaje koji su učenicima zanimljivi (muzika, filmovi, serije, video-igrice, novine i časopisi), a što dalje promoviše dublje komunikativne odnose, radoznalost i savladavanje sadržaja učenja uz viša postignuća učenika.
